THE PROPERTY WAS DAMAGED IN FIRE (MORE SMOKE DAMAGE THAN STRUCTURAL). THE PICTURES DEPICT IT'S FORMER GLORY. A PHILANTROPIST HISTORY BUFF WITH BUILDING SKILLS WANTED !! OR MR. BACON, HOW ABOUT HOUSING FOR YOUR MORE SPIRITUAL EMPLOYEES!? The legendary Laughing Horse is adobe built in 1887, with 10 rooms in the historic adobe with shared baths and three suites with private baths that sleep four to six. One suite had full kitchen. Walter “Spud” Johnson, a New Mexico editor, essayist and poet bought the house that is now called Laughing Horse in the late 1920s. He frequently entertained at his humble adobe on Paseo del Pueblo Norte the likes of Witter Bynner, Mable Dodge Lujan, D.H. Lawrence, Upton Sinclair and Georgia O’Keefe. The room reserved for the Artist-in-Residence is named the Georgia O’Keefe room in honor of the famous artist’s numerous stays at the house. This historic adobe a private home of Spud Johnson, publisher of the Laughing Horse magazine (1924 to 1939) and friend of DH Lawrence, Mabel Dodge, Dorothy Brett, and in later years, Georgia O'Keefe. HELP TO SAVE THIS ICONIC LANDMARK BY SELLING IT TO A RESTORER AND NOT A MEMBER OF A DEMOLISON DERBY. The last 4 photos reflect the current condition of the building.
